CNC machine for High Tech Lab maakleerplek Leuven

Overview:

1. CNC machine, open source, active user community, free software/software included,
2. Peripherals:
2A. Dust collection system with spare dust filter
2B. Air compressor, low noise

Total project cost ca. 10,000 Euro

Possible implementations:

1. Mekanika Pro-L – Education Bundle (preferred, Belgian product - Brussels)
2. Stepcraft M-1000 (less preferred, Germany, vendor wants payment at order, negotiatable?)

1. CNC machine - should conform to the following requirements:

• About 1000x1000 mm working table;

• Ability to mill hard woods, plastics, foam, aluminum alloys (rigid structure, powerful spindle);

• Adjusted to effectively remove dust during the cutting job;

• User friendly and precise change of router bits during a cutting job;

• CAM software package or compatibility with free CAM software packages;

• User friendly graphical interface;

• Onboard computer and ability to load cutting job files via portable storage devices;

• Enclosure to assure safety of the visitors;

• Table to support the CNC machine;

• Set of router bits and collets to start operating the machine;

• Documentation on assembly, setting up and maintenance of the CNC machine

• Supplier within local vicinity of Leuven

• Quick access to service and support, to support local community and to reduce overall footprint

• Vendor should accept the purchasing conditions of Stad Leuven (invoice at or after delivery, payment 30 days after invoice)

• Expected package cost: ca. 9000 Euros
